Teen burglary suspect with loaded gun found in Westlake doghouse

WESTLAKE, Ohio- Westlake police arrested two teen suspects and recovered a stolen SUV on Friday.

A resident on Park Place called police at about 11:25 a.m. Friday after noticing two people trying to break into a neighbor’s house. As officers arrived, the suspect took off on foot, but they left behind a 2013 Honda CRX.

Westlake police said the vehicle was stolen in Cleveland on June 21 and may be connected to other burglaries in the area.

About 20 minutes later, one suspect was arrested in a nearby backyard. The second was found hiding in a doghouse on Yeoman Drive. According to police, a loaded 9mm gun was also discovered inside.

The suspects, ages 16 and 17, face charges of burglary and receiving stolen property.
