NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH – North Ridgeville Police are investigating two church thefts.

In the first case, someone broke into a shed and stole a lawnmower at Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church off Center Ridge Road.

It’s unclear when exactly it happened, but the church believes it was sometime in the last few weeks.

Just down the street, someone broke into a shed at First Congregational Church.

Treasurer Linda Matis said they took several items including a lawn blower and tractor

"The only thing that we can figure is that they came in with a trailer because of the items that were taken,” she said.

She said the timing couldn’t have been any worse. The church is already struggling to pay for other repairs on the property. Now they have to find a way to replace what was stolen.

"It's a sad thing when people steal from a church,” she said.

Police believe the cases are connected because of what was taken and from where.
