BRITISH COLUMBIA– A little boy from New Jersey reeled in quite the catch while fishing in British Columbia on June 29.

ABC News reports that Kegan Rothman, 9, caught a 600-pound great white sturgeon.

Kegan, who is 4-feet tall, was able to get the 10-foot long fish near shore after reeling it in following a nearly two-hour long struggle, and with the help of his dad and a fishing guide.

The boy told Great River Fishing Adventures:

“It is the most excitement I’ve ever had with a fish. It was so hard to hold onto the rod. I thought the fish was going to pull me into the water.”

A spokesperson for Great River Fishing Adventures called the catch a “nearly impossible feat.”

The sturgeon was released back into the water.
