SANDUSKY, Ohio -A standoff in Erie County ended at around 7 a.m., with the suspect headed to the hospital.

It started yesterday in Sandusky, when the male suspect fired a shot at a woman, led police on a high-speed chase, and then holed up in his car in the driveway of his Homegardner Road home.

Sheriff’s officials, along with several other agencies, negotiated with the suspect, but in the end, he shot himself. Police tell Fox 8 that he is alive and was taken to the hospital.

Nearby neighbors had to be evacuated during the standoff.
