Cleveland police: Man steals cell phone, shoots victim

CLEVELAND- A 25-year-old Cleveland man was arrested after police say he stole a cell phone and shot his victim.

It happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday on Cable Avenue in Cleveland. The 30-year-old victim told police a man took his phone then shot him in the leg.

Officers spotted the suspect in the area of East 65th Street and Bessemer Avenue, and chased him a few blocks. Police arrested the 25-year-old and recovered the phone. While retracing his path, they also found a handgun.

The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
