Man arrested after taking gun to school playground, told police he was confronting bullies

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS - A Cleveland Heights father is facing felony charges after police say he went to a school playground with a gun.

The man was arrested after he allegedly brought the unloaded handgun to Noble Elementary, and he told police he was confronting bullies.
48-year-old John Lee Jr. was arrested Saturday evening around 7:45 at the playground.

Police say he had a gun on him when he went to the playground to speak to some children.‎

The defendant told police he wanted to confront bullies he said were harassing his children.

Several witnesses say Lee pulled up his shirt showing children he had a gun.

Lee now faces several felony charges including carrying a ‎ concealed weapon and possessing a weapon on school premises‎.

Parents living near the playground say the incident has left them very concerned.‎‎

Tanetha Johnson says she will no longer allow her children to go to the playground alone.‎‎

Tomeka Hodge, who has two small children, agrees.

Lee ‎has plead not guilty to the charges and is out on a $10,000 bond.

Fox 8 tried to reach the defendant to get his side of what happened but he did not call us back. His case is now being sent to the grand jury to determine if he should be indicted on the charges.
