CLEVELAND – A man is facing charges for a robbery  of a CSU student just off campus, but police say the robber only got away with $7.

Records show it happened Monday afternoon on East 24th  Street near the Langsten Apartments.

A court document shows a student was walking when he was approached by Jai Elnardo Skillern-Pruitt Jr, 18. The victim told police the robber had his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun. And the victim says he was ordered to the ground with the robber demanding his book bag.

The victim told police he offered the robber money instead to leave him alone: $7. The court document also shows the robber took the money and punched the victim in the face. The victim was able to identify the attacker a short time later.

Skillern-Pruitt, Jr. is now charged with robbery. Cleveland State University Police made the arrest. They say the suspect had the $7 on him at the time of his arrest.
