MENTOR, Ohio– Five people were arrested after police say they stole from a store in Mentor.

According to a post on Mentor police’s Facebook page, officers, who were assigned to a retail theft detail, reported seeing suspicious activity in the parking lot of a store near Heisley Rd. and Mentor Ave. They went up to two women who they say had store items hidden under a coat in a shopping cart.

Police say the women admitted to stealing and said they had family members and friends in the store who they believed were also shoplifting.  The officers say when the others came out of the store, they had stolen items, too; over $400 of clothing and kitchenware was recovered.

All five people, who are from Painesville, were arrested.
