GREEN, Ohio- A Summit County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man after responding to a house in Green Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called to Raber Road for a fight between a 52-year-old man and his father just before 8 a.m.

When deputies arrived, the 52-year-old man opened the front door and pulled out a knife, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies ordered the man to put down the weapon, but he continued towards them.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy used a Taser on the man, though it had little to no effect.

“The subject continued towards the deputy, who repeatedly told him to drop the knife. The man refused the commands and advanced toward deputy,” the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

That’s when one deputy shot the man. He was taken to Akron City Hospital and pronounced dead.

The shooting is under investigation and the identity of the 52-year-old has not been released.
