AVON- An eighth-grade teacher was fired after an investigation determined that the teacher pushed a student into a locker, then shut the locker door.

The student at Holy Trinity Elementary in Avon told the assistant principal about the incident in early May. The teacher was placed on administrative leave after a preliminary investigation, then fired after a more thorough probe. The school called the conduct inappropriate and unacceptable.

Part of a statement from the school reads, "We at Holy Trinity School believe that the well-being of our students is our first priority. As part of our commitment to the children in our care, all of our students are required to undergo training in accordance with the Diocese of Cleveland's Policy For the Safety of Children."

The training, according the school statement, includes instruction and education about proper boundaries between adults and students.
