PARMA, OH – Barb Forestall loves taking her dog Chloe outside, but they don’t have many places to go.

"You can take dogs to the park, but they always have to be on leash and they really can't meet other dogs that way,” she said.

Her group, Parma Area Dog Park Association is working to change that. That want to build a dog park.

The City of Parma recently gave them permission to get started, but there’s a problem. They don’t have the funding, so now they’re trying to find some.

They plan to host a fundraiser in June and they also entered an online contest. It’s called Bark for your Park.  The winner gets $100,000 and the four runner up communities get $25,000.

"We really need the backing of everybody in the government and the community to help us out with this. The more money we can raise, if we win this Bark for your Park contest, the less we really need funding from other sources,” she explained.

She said they have a few locations in mind for the dog park, but nothing official just yet.

Many in the group really like the idea of putting in Veterans Memorial Park.
