Body camera shows officer holding woman’s head out of water after car crashes into culvert

MONTVILLE, Ohio-- A 72-year-old woman was involved in a frightening crash that left her vehicle upside down in a culvert and her head in water.

According to Montville police, the woman was getting off I-71 onto St. Rt. 18 around 11 Friday morning, when her van was struck by an SUV.

Her van rolled upside down into a culvert. A police officer was nearby and arrived at the scene quickly. The officer kept the woman's head out of the water until fire crews could get there and help free her.

There was also a passenger in the van, but she was able to position herself to get out of the water.

The driver was alert when she was taken to the hospital. The driver of the SUV who hit her is being cited for running a red light.
