EAST CLEVELAND, OH – Two East Cleveland police officers have been suspended from their jobs after officials received tip calls complaining about them.

Sergeant Torris Moore and Officer Eric Jones were suspended last Friday, according to East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton. Jones later resigned from the police department.

Mayor Norton spoke with Fox 8 news earlier, and emphasized that his city takes complaints about their police department very seriously.

“In our city we must police the police,” he stated.

Norton wouldn’t say what the specifics were behind the suspensions, but stated that there is an internal as well as an external investigation going on and that more information would likely become available over the next few weeks.

Fox 8 will have more on this story as details become available.
