MINNEAPOLIS – Mackenzie Moretter has Sotos Syndrome, which left her with brain damage as a young child and less social skills than other children, which makes finding new friends more difficult.

Her mother sent invitations to classmates, but none of them RSVPed, which made her mother reach out on Facebook so Mackenzie could have a great birthday party.

“I have a hard time making friends at school,” she told WCCO.

Hundreds of people found out through social media and turned up to help celebrate Mackenzie’s big day.

The City of Shakopee even declared April 18 as “Mackenzie Moretter Day.” She opened plenty of gifts  enjoyed the 30 dozen cupcakes ordered for the event.

All together, about 400 people came to join Mackenzie. Her parents said she can keep a few gifts and she can donate the rest to charity.
