PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — Traffic was backed up for miles after a crash on the Ohio Turnpike this morning.

The accident happened in the westbound lanes at just after 9 a.m. near the 194.5 mile marker in Portage County.

The westbound lanes were briefly closed so a medical helicopter could land at the scene.

Crews then began gradually opening the lanes of the highway.  As of noon, the back-up was cleared, but the right lane remained closed.

It’s not clear how many vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
