California Gov. Jerry Brown has just announced new water restrictions to help deal with a drought.

He announced on ABC’s This Week that it means Californians could face heavy fines for taking long showers or watering their lawns, according to WesternJournalism.com.

If they don’t follow the restrictions, they could be fined up to $500 a day.

Brown said that water waste from showers and watering lawns is “not very smart.”
