Woman killed in Lorain County crash

NEW RUSSIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motor vehicle fatality that occurred on Friday, April 3, 2015 shortly before 4:37 a.m.

A 1994 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound on Oberlin Road when it drove off the right side of the roadway. It then drove through a ditch, sideswiped a tree, re-entered the roadway, was driven off the left side of the roadway and struck another tree. The vehicle then caught fire.

The female occupant of the vehicle died on scene. Her identity has not been released and it is not known right now if she was wearing her seat belt. It is also not known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, as an investigation is ongoing.
