CLEVELAND – An 18-year-old was shot and killed by police during a suspected break in on the city’s east side early Thursday morning.

Police say they did not find a weapon on the suspect.

Police responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. Thursday morning about a possible burglary at a corner store near Parkwood Drive and Primrose Avenue.

A woman who saw the shooting told Fox 8 she saw the suspect come out of the store carrying a grocery bag.

Shortly after the suspect came out of the store, police say a struggle took place when officers tried to arrest 18-year-old Brandon Jones.

During the struggle one officer fired a shot from his weapon, striking Jones, who died later at the hospital.

The store owner Essex Hayward said the suspect took some cigarettes and some loose change.

The shooting remain under investigation.
