PARMA, Ohio- A car crashed through a Mr. Chicken restaurant in Parma Thursday morning.

Parma police said a 34-year-old man was driving north on Ridge Road when he blacked out. The car crossed the lanes and into the Mr. Chicken shortly before 8 a.m.

"He just kind of came around and I thought maybe his brakes had blown out, or something because he kind of sped up a little bit, rather than slow down and came literally right through the building,” said Alanna Selpecky, who was driving to work in the opposite direction and witnessed the crash.

“He had a little bit of blood around his nose, but he seemed to be ok, he knew that something obviously wasn't right, but he didn't know that he had even crashed through the building,” Selpecky said.

According to a news release from Mr. Chicken, the restaurant was in the process of renovations, which were destroyed.

“The good news is no one was hurt in the accident. The bad news is we just finished a very expensive remodeling of our lobby that now features a runaway car in the dining area."

The man was treated and released, then turned over to a family member. No employees or customers were inside at the time of the crash.

The Mr. Chicken location was able to open at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
