Police: Woman held captive for days, beaten with hammer, had bleach poured in her eyes

LATROBE, Pennsylvania — A Pennsylvania woman is recovering after police say she was held captive for several days by her boyfriend, beaten with a hammer, and had bleach poured into her eyes.

WPXI and TribLIVE reported the assaults began last Wednesday and lasted until the woman managed to escape on Saturday.

Latrobe Police arrested Glenn Whittier, 43, on Saturday after the woman escaped. Whittier is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment.

According to TribLIVE, the woman suffered from bite marks on her chest, skull trauma, and numerous cuts and bruises. She told police Whittier beat her with a hammer, pulled out large chunks of her hair and poured bleach into her eyes and on her wounds.

Police did not say how the woman was able to escape.

Whittier remains locked up on $100,000 bail. He is due in court next week.
