VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- A photo of a baby is lighting up social media this week.

WTKR reports that photo was taken by Virginia Beach photographer Vanessa Hicks, a Navy veteran. It shows a baby being held up by an American flag.

Hicks posted the photo on her Facebook page, and soon became the target of cyber bullying. A Facebook page called "You Call Yourself A Photographer" shared her photo and claimed she desecrated the American flag.

Hicks said that was not her intention and that she saw the photo as standing for pride and honor.

"When I look at this picture, I see a man who has served six years for his country in the Navy, and the mother of this child is prior Army," Hicks said. "The flag, the uniform, that baby. Exactly what every service member is out there fighting."

Hicks said she's gotten private messages and other comments regarding her photo. But she said she's not backing down.
