AKRON, Ohio — A man pretending to buy Sour Patch Kids pulled out a gun and robbed a Family Dollar store in Akron Saturday night.

According to police, the suspect walked into the store at 1400 South Arlington Street just before 9 p.m. He walked around the store and left, reports state.

But about 10 minutes later, he came back into the store, grabbed the candy and walked up to the register. As the clerk started to ring up the candy sale, the man pulled out a short-barreled shotgun and demanded money from the register.

When the suspect thought the clerk wasn’t moving fast enough, he racked the shotgun. He then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as being a white male between 25 and 31 years old. He was between 5’5″ tall and 6′ tall and weighed between 140 and 180 pounds. He had red or auburn hair and a beard and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with dark-colored jeans.
