WESTLAKE, Ohio- A 73-year-old woman was robbed and attacked outside her Westlake home on Tuesday.
Police said Clinton Harrill, 53, of Cleveland, was trolling for victims in a parking lot when he decided to follow this elderly woman.
She parked in the garage at her house on Hilliard Boulevard, but Harrill used a recycling bin to keep the garage door from closing. According to police, he pulled the 73-year-old woman’s hair and took her purse before fleeing.
“His manner of predatory stalking illustrates the importance of people being aware of their surroundings and attuned to suspicious behaviors, persons, and vehicles,” Westlake police said in a news release on Thursday.
Officers from Cleveland and Westlake found Harrill near East 71st Street in Cleveland on Wednesday. They impounded his 1999 Lexus and found two Bibles inside. Westlake police said they believe Harrill was using the Bibles to deflect suspicions.
Harrill was taken to the Westlake City Jail, and charged with aggravated burglary and robbery. His criminal record dates to 1989 and includes conviction of kidnapping, theft and, breaking and entering.
