Man rammed Akron cop car after threatening girlfriend with gun, police say

AKRON, Ohio- Akron police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous after a domestic dispute Thursday morning.

Lavonte Lee Dukes, 24, kicked in the door of his girlfriend’s apartment just after midnight, Akron police said. He was waving a gun around as he threatened one man and tried to take his sleeping daughter.

According to the police department, Dukes put a gun in his girlfriend’s mouth and threatened to kill her. He fled when she called 911, but officers confronted him in the driveway. That’s when he drove towards officers, who had to jump out of the way of his van.

Dukes also rammed a police car, leaving officers unable to chase after him.

Dukes is wanted for felonious assault on a peace officer, aggravated burglary, domestic violence, felonious assault, aggravated menacing and endangering children. Dukes is 6 foot 4 and weighs about 200 pounds. Akron police said he is armed and dangerous.
