February is Black History Month and we are honoring another unsung hero.

Dr. Evan Morse, a Warrensville Heights veterinarian, has been providing free medical care to animals for almost 40 years.

Since 1976, Dr. Morse has been running a free animal clinic at several Cleveland-area locations.

The doctor and his team make sure to visit areas where pet owners might not be able to afford proper medical care for their furry friends.

“Service has always been a tenet of mine. It comes as naturally as breathing and my father, who had a corner barbershop, he always had a motto that he drilled into me as a little boy and I’ve heard it thousands of times: He always said to me, ‘start where you are; use what you have; do what you can,’ and that’s been a driving force to keep me on the steady path all of my life,” Dr. Morse said.
