One fatality after Ohio Turnpike crash in Erie County

ERIE COUNTY – Jose Ramon Leal Jr., 21, died after an accident in Erie County on the Ohio Turnpike Saturday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were three cars and one commercial semi involved in the crash.

truck2Police say Leal was driving eastbound when he lost control of his car, hit the guard rail and bounced back into traffic. He was then struck by two more cars and a commercial semi.

The highway was closed for about three hours.

Police are still investigating the exact chain of events.

There was another fatal accident near the same area during a winter storm on Feb. 14.
