Man arrested for reportedly bringing cocaine to police department

MENTOR, Ohio — A 19-year-old Painesville man posting bond for his cousin was arrested after police found cocaine on him.

According to Mentor police, Jose Luis Santiago Rodriguez went to the police station with his family in hopes of bonding out his cousin.

Police say Rodriguez and others in his group smelled so strongly of marijuana that it drew the attention of officers.

Rodriguez was searched, and three baggies of cocaine were found on him.

He was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, which is a felony as he was within 1,000 feet of a school at the time. His cell phone was also confiscated.
