Kelli’s Sour Cream Cut-Outs

1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
1-1/2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon soda

1/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar (I measure then sift)
2-3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1-1/2 vanilla
¼ teaspoon sea salt

In a mixing bowl combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add sour cream and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda. Gradually add flour mixture to the creamed mixture, beating on low. Chill dough at least 2 hours or overnight. Roll portions of dough onto heavily floured surface to about ¼” thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Make sure the cookies are “set,” “puffed up” and slightly firm to touch when you remove them from the oven. Only the edges should be slightly golden. Cool and frost.
