Baby boy dies of the flu in Ashtabula County

ASHTABULA, Ohio- The flu claimed the life of a baby boy in Ashtabula County.

A baby under the age of 6 months old died from the flu within the last two weeks, the Ohio Department of Health said. Traditional flu vaccines are approved for anyone 6 months or older.

During this flu season, there have been 60 flu-related hospitalizations in Ashtabula County. In Cuyahoga County, that number tops 1,200 with 33 flu-related deaths.

The state department of health considers flu activity widespread in Ohio.
