AKRON, Ohio-A snowy scene took over the Rolling Acres Mall.

The shopping center was built in the mid-1970s and the last store closed December 2013.

Local photographers Johnny Joo and Seph Lawless captured the frosty scene after last week’s snow storm.

Joo told FOX 8 News he lives near the mall and wanted to capture the unique scene after the glass ceiling gave away dumping snow inside the once busy mall.

He described it as a very strange scene of winter wonderland staged by nature in the middle of destruction.

Joo has traveled across the world capturing unique images of abandoned homes, historic places and abandoned malls.

“Malls are awesome. A place once filled with people, now abandoned. It is amazing to capture images of a place that holds so many¬† memories,” Joo said.

The photographer is gearing up to take a trip from Northeast Ohio to the West Coast. He plans to document his trip with video, pictures and song.

Joo recently had a book published of his amazing photos. For more information on Empty Spaces, click here.

Seph Lawless has captured images of abandoned theaters, factories and homes, both here in his hometown of Cleveland and across the country. Click here for more on his work and click here for Seph’s Facebook page.
