We are paying tribute to 'Unsung Heroes' during February in honor of Black History Month.

Today, we honor a Middlefield businessman who is giving back to the community by mentoring and giving out college scholarships each year.

Darrell McNair is the owner and of MVP Plastics, a company that makes custom injected molded parts for the car and medical industry.

McNair has given college scholarships to students in Akron and Cleveland for the past five years.

He says it's vital that people give back, so others can step forward. "I didn't get here by myself ok, there was somebody that helped me out along the way, so that is one of the lessons that was taught to me.  When you get to a certain point, you've gotta reach back and try and help bring someone else along the way.  Like I said, I'm afraid not to give back to be quite honest with you. I feel that that it's one of those things that you get in the habit of it perpetuates on itself so I'm afraid not to give back at this point," McNair said.

He says he's given more than 80 scholarships to students.
