EATON TOWNSHIP, Ohio- The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a man and woman died after their car was involved in an accident with two trains on State Route 83 near Capel Road in Eaton Township around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said the victims- identified as Jawad A Al-Nimer, 57, and Mufideh Al-Nimer, 78, both of Lorain- were pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jawad was driving.

"I never seen anything like it. I can't even talk about what I seen; it was such a gruesome accident," said Joseph Mellott, who witnessed the crash. Mellott said he and a friend were four cars back when he saw a train slam into a Chevy Malibu.

"The first medic unit arrived on scene and confirmed that there were two occupants from the vehicle who were both ejected; both patients were pronounced dead at the scene,” said Kevin Blair, incident commander with the Eaton Township Fire Department.

Their car was struck by two trains- one heading eastbound, the other heading westbound.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

The rail line and State Route 83 remained closed in both directions near the scene during the investigation.
