DECATUR, Texas- More than 40 dogs have disappeared from a Texas community since November.

Robin Lewis’ black lab, Jack, went missing from her family’s home in Decatur in December. On the same day, Decatur Mayor Martin Woodruff’s daughter lost her two dogs from his fenced-in yard.

“I think it’s very suspicious that three very large, friendly dogs disappear in the same neighborhood at the exact same time,” Lewis told NBCDFW in Dallas, Texas.

According to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, 40 dogs have been reported missing in the last two months. Investigators do not have a suspect’s description, but Lewis and Woodruff believe someone is stealing their dogs.

“It does have some eyebrows raised,” Wise County Sheriff David Walker told KVUE. “Could they be using them in dog fights? It’s possible.”
