AVON, Ohio- Excavation started on Tuesday at the Red Tail Golf Club in Avon, which will be the location for the third FOX 8 St. Jude Dream Home.

This year's home is expected to be about 3,000 square feet and will cost about $500,000.

It typically takes about five to six months to build a home of this size, but the dream home will only take four months to be ready by the end of May.

"This year is going to be a little bit better than last year. We are going to do some of the similar features. We are going to have the wood-burning fireplace out on the porch again,” Buckingham Homes owner Danny McMahon said. The basement will be a highlight of the dream home’s design.

“We are going to put a bar down there with a theater room. We always try and step it up every year one notch above from what we did last year,” McMahon said.

Most of the people building the new St. Jude Dream Home are volunteering their time. They say it's all for a good cause."

"We've had a few meetings where they have told us the story of these kids and what has happened to them, some of their families, how they have been impacted by these different diseases and it's fantastic what St. Jude does," contractor Rick Gerent said.

Raffle tickets for the St. Jude Dream Home go on sale on March 19. For $100, you’re entered to win the house, a $10,000 hot tub from Litehouse Pools and Spas, a car from Nick Abraham Auto Mall and other prizes. Money raised goes to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
