AKRON, Ohio- AT&T phone service is slowly being restored following an outage Tuesday night.

A steam pipe burst in a switching office, affecting wireless and hardline service in Summit, Medina, Portage and Stark counties. Wednesday afternoon, AT&T Ohio spokeswoman Holly Hollingsworth said all services are now restored

But officials in Summit County were not happy with the lack of information.

Jason Dodson, the chief of staff for Summit County Executive Russell Pry, said some lines have been restored, but others are very sporadic. Dodson said the county is frustrated with how long it’s taking to find out when the lines will be back to full service.

AT&T told Summit County that they need to dig up West Bowery Street in Akron to make repairs, but as of 11 a.m., work there had not started, Dodson said.

The Medina County Sheriff’s Office said its 911 and non-emergency lines were back online Wednesday morning. Service in Brimfield and Mantua was also restored, but is still intermittent in areas of Portage and Stark counties.
