Missing Mantua man’s death ruled homicide

CLEVELAND- The body found in the Flats Monday morning has been identified as a missing Portage County man.

Joseph Mullins, 57, was last seen on Dec. 19 at his house Infirmary Road in Mantua Township, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said. Officers were asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.

His remains were found on the ground on Stones Levee Road in Cleveland, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office. Cleveland police said Mullins was behind a coal mound with injuries to his head and face.

His death is being investigated as a suspected homicide. The cause of death has not been determined.
