NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio- Police investigating a Christmas-morning break-in found an unlikely culprit.

Two North Ridgeville officers responding to an alarm at a local business discovered an open door. As the officers started clearing the building, the suspect, a squirrel, made a dash towards freedom.

“The squirrel was able to make it out the door and into the woods, where there were approximately 43 of his friends waiting. Because a positive ID is now near impossible, there will be no further investigation,” North Ridgeville police posted on their Facebook page.

“You won this one, Squirrel. Well played. Well played, indeed.”
