BEDFORD, Ohio -- An overnight police-involved shooting is under investigation in Bedford.

Bedford police were called to investigate a disturbance at a residence at the 600 block of Archer Road around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

On scene, police encountered a man they say wielded a knife at officers. Officers initially used a Taser on the man, then shot him after charging the officers.

"I was sleeping. I did hear glass breaking and I didn't think nothing of it. So I got woken up by gunshots and I came downstairs," said Brittany Wilson, who lives in the house. "All I heard was my mom say is they shot him."

The man, identified as 43-year-old John Hebebrand, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office said.

Hebebrand was arrested for disorderly conduct in January 2010.
