Woman accused of online dating robberies in Akron

AKRON, Ohio- An 18-year-old woman has been arrested after Akron police say she used an online dating service to meet men and rob them.

Lashon L. Hamilton, of Akron, went to a man’s home on Friday night with another man she claimed was her brother. Akron police said Hamilton and her so-called brother robbed the 31-year-old victim at gunpoint, stealing an Xbox 360.

Officers are also investigating a second incident where a woman and her brother stole a man’s car. The victim picked up his date and moments later the brother put a gun to his head, police said. The victim’s car, a tan, 2007 Mazda 3, is still missing.

Hamilton is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. She’s being held at the Summit County Jail and more charges are expected.

Police have not identified the male suspect.
