Suspect arrested in string of robberies in Painesville

PAINESVILLE – Police have a suspect in custody for a string of robberies throughout Lake County throughout the day Saturday.

Around 8:30 a.m., police were called to the Auto Zone on Mentor Avenue for reports of a robbery. A 6’3″ male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt had entered, passed the cashier a note and demanded money.

He fled the store afterwards with an unknown amount of cash and merchandise.

Later on Saturday, a robbery occurred at the Subway on Mentor Avenue, information was given to police and a joint effort from Painesville police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

The suspect was interviewed after his arrest and was also linked to robberies at the Perkins Restaurant in Painesville that occurred on December 18th.

A search warrant was also released that helped investigators.

The suspect was booked at Lake County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery at all three locations.
