CLEVELAND – Alberto Medina, 32, was sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after 33 years on Wednesday for the murder of his children’s mother on September 8th.

Medina pled guilty to one count of aggravated murder with a three-year firearm specification and three counts of endangering children, as Medina and 28-year-old victim Malorie Ferrell‘s three children were in the home during the time of the murder.

Medina was out on bond during the time of the murder, and he also pled guilty to one count of felonious assault and two counts of endangering children for an attack on August 16th.

Judge Nancy Margaret Russo sentenced Medina following his plea in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, and he will be 65 before parole can be considered.

In a press release, assistant prosecuting attorney Mahmoud Awadallah, who prosecuted with assistant prosecuting attorney Margaret Troia, said “Alberto Medina accepted responsibility for his actions and will be serving life in prison, while sparing the victim’s children from having to testify.”
