CLEVELAND- The autopsy of 12-year-old Tamir Rice was released Friday morning by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Cleveland police were called to the Cudell Recreation Center on Nov. 22 for a report of a male with a gun. When police arrived, they warned Tamir before shooting him twice, the Cleveland Division of Police said. The gun turned out to be airsoft.

Rice was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. the next day.

The medical examiner’s report said Rice died of a gunshot that went through his stomach, causing injuries to his intestines and pelvis. The cause of death is homicide.

The bullet was recovered and is described as “metal jacketed and moderately deformed with mushrooming at the nose.”

The report listed Rice as 5 foot 7 and 195 pounds.
