Drunken driver hits bus in Eastlake school parking lot and flees, police say

EASTLAKE, Ohio- An Eastlake woman was charged with driving under the influence after police say she hit a school bus.

Officers were called to the parking lot of Jefferson Elementary School just before 9 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a hit-skip accident. While police were arriving, dispatch received another call reporting a car driving recklessly on Lakeshore Boulevard.

When Eastlake police caught up with the driver, she admitted she hit the bus and fled the scene.

Police said Jennifer Shetina, 37, was taken to Lake West Medical Center after passing out in the back seat of the cruiser. She was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and endangering children.

The bus driver and the nine students on board were not injured.
