Firefighters pull elderly woman from burning Bedford Heights house

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio- Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from a burning house Wednesday night.

Bedford Heights firefighters were called to a one-story home on Sunset Drive at about 9:25 p.m. When crews arrived, black smoke was pouring out of the home’s windows.

Fire officials said a man told firefighters his mother was trapped in a rear bedroom. Crews quickly found the woman and brought her out to the front yard for medical attention.

The victim was taken to University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center, but was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center.

According to the Bedford Heights Fire Department, the house is uninhabitable and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
