STRONGSVILLE, Ohio -- They are touted as the tallest and the fastest ice chutes in Ohio.

The Cleveland MetroParks toboggan chutes in the Mill Stream Run Reservation in Strongsville are now open for the season.

"It's a ton of fun.  It's really fast.  It's not icy, the track is icy.  We come here every year instead of Black Friday shopping," Sophie Sacks, of Cleveland, said.

At 700 feet, the refrigerated twin ice chutes offer a wild ride with speeds up to 50 miles per hour.

"It's really long. And, when you go down it's like your belly tickles a little bit," 6-year-old Miles Krueger, of Medina, said.

Riders no longer have to carry the toboggans themselves, but they still have to walk up 108 steps to the top of the chute.

"It's just a lot of fun for families.  The stairs a little bit tough -- but, beyond that, it's awesome," Miles’ Dad Mike Krueger said.

Like many amusement park rides, there is a height requirement, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

"All riders need to be at least 42 inches tall and everyone must wear gloves or mittens in order to ride," concessions manager Amy McRitchie said.

The chutes are open Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays with extended hours over the holidays.
