NORTH RIDGEVILLE- Police say women throughout northeast Ohio have been getting creeped out by phones calls from one man.

49-year-old Gene Croy Jr., of North Ridgeville, is accused of making thousands of obscene phones calls to area businesses, including retail stores and nursing homes.

Lt. Greg Petek says Croy was arrested in July on charges that he made obscene phone calls to a tanning salon in North Ridgeville. A few weeks later cops obtained his cell phone records and found thousands of other calls.

“He would call numerous places, any place that a woman would answer,” Petek said. “It really scared these women because he called so many times.”

Records show he called a local Victoria's Secret store more than 100 times over the course of a few months.

“He would start the call out like it was a business call and then make it obscene, he scared a lot of women,” Petek said.

Cell phone records also showed he made obscene calls to other areas out of state and even some retail stores in other states.

Petek says warrants were issued for Croy’s arrest Thursday in Elyria Municipal Court. Police are looking for him and ask anyone with information to call the North Ridgeville Police Department.
