Man arrested in connection with murder of elderly woman in Ashtabula Co.

ASHTABULA, Ohio- Ashtabula sheriff deputies have arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with the March murder of an elderly woman.

Sheriff Bill Johnson said the man was arrested Friday and is being held in jail and is expected to be arraigned Monday.

Johnson said he will not release the defendant’s name until he is arraigned.

Mary Martinchuck, 82, was found in the kitchen of her Sexton Road home in Austinburg around 11:20 a.m. March 30.

The coroner’s office ruled she died from multiple stab wounds.

Deputies  said a black purse,  a TV and DVD player were missing from the home.
