It was a snowy edition of the season finale of another season of Friday Night Touchdown!
One of the most anticipated games was at North Royalton Stadium in Division 2 when the Midview Middies played the Avon Eagles. The two teams met at the mid-point of the season when the Middies came out on top. And, they did it again, this time in overtime: Midview, 42; Avon, 36.
At Mentor’s Osborne Stadium, the Madison Blue Streaks battled coach Larry Pinto’s Mayfield Wildcats who have run off a string of victories after losing the opener. Mayfield keeps on winning; they beat the Blue Streaks, 19-10.
Dan Coughlin covered a pair of games as Perrysburg took on the number 4 team in the final Fox 8 Top 8, Nordonia. Nordonia won it, 56-52.
Clyde took on Norwalk and won, 35-24.
Defending Division 6 champ Kirtland put its unbeaten record on the line when the Hornets met Garaway. Kirtland came out on top, 41-0.
Defending champ, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary played and beat Poland, 20-10.
Number 5-rated Bedford faced the Willoughby South Rebels, who came off a win over last year’s Division 2 runner-up Glenville. Bedford came out on top, 54-24.
Not far from Stewart Field in Solon, the Bay Rockets met the NDCL Lions at Twinsburg Stadium and won, 27-24.
It was Aurora vs Hubbard and Hubbard took the victory, 23-19.
Loudonville beat Mogadore, 42-14; while the Benedictine Bengals took on Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and won, 56-16.
Lewis Center Olentangy beat Wooster, 31-6 and Kenton met Triway and came away the 13-6 win.
