Police: Man robs jewelry store using nail clippers

AKRON, Ohio-  Police say a man robbed Glenn Fisher Jewelers on Manchester Road around 10 a.m. Monday.

Employees say when the suspect walked in, he was asked to leave.

He’s accused of using nail clippers to cut the security strap off of a sapphire ring.

According to police, the man took the ring and tried to leave the store when an employee confronted him. They say that’s when he pulled out a knife and ran off.

Officers found the suspect, identified as Willie J. Persinger, 57, of Barberton, on a nearby street.

He was taken into custody, charged with aggravated robbery, and booked into the Summit County Jail.
