Veterans Day 2014: Full list of parades, ceremonies and other events in NE Ohio

Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day.

Special events and ceremonies will be held all over Northeast Ohio not just on Veterans Day but on other days during that week.

— Amherst Veterans Day ceremony. Starts 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at 248 Park Ave. A Korean War mural will be unveiled, and there will be speakers and a fly-by. The event will be emceed by Fox 8’s Lou Maglio.


— Veterans Day assembly followed by parade at Normandy Elementary School. Begins Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. with assembly. After the assembly, at around 9:30 a.m., a parade will take place.


— Cleveland Veterans Day Parade. Assembles at City Hall at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 11. Steps off at 9:30 a.m., travels down Lakeside Avenue to Ontario Street to Rockwell Avenue to East Ninth Street and back to City Hall.

— Cleveland Veterans Day ceremony: Follows the parade, and begins at 11 a.m. at City Hall Nov. 11.

— Cleveland VA Medical Center Open House: From 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, 10701 East Blvd. Community will get tours, music, refreshments and a cooking demonstration.

— USS Cod Memorial Tablet unveiling and open house. Free public submarine open house and unveiling of a memorial tablet honoring more than 3,700 men and women who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the USS Cod dock on North Marginal Road between East 9th Street and Burke Lakefront Airport.


— Veterans Day Hero Celebration. Starts 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Gilles-Sweet Elementary School. There will be music, speakers and a Parade of Heroes.


— Green Veterans Day Ceremony. Being held at Queen of Heaven’s New Life Parish next to Veterans Memorial Park, 1800 Steese Road. The ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11.


—  Veterans Recognition Ceremony. Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Summit Point, 9633 Valley View Road.


— Honor Our Veterans recognition ceremony. Begins at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Altercare of Mentor, 9901 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor. Sixteen veterans will be recognized or their service, and Mentor City Council Vice President Janet Dowling will give a proclamation. Will also be ceremonial pinnings and certificate presentations.


— Moment of silence at Hard Rock Rocksino. Begins 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Rocksino, 10777 Northfield Road, Northfield, followed by lunch in the Fresh Harvest Restaurant. After lunch, participants can sign a tribute wall.


— Veterans Day tribute event at Brady Middle School. Starts at 8 a.m. Nov. 11 at Brady Middle School, 32000 Chagrin Blvd.
